| it has been a horrid quarter
got a 0 on my quiz last week, not because i didn't take it, but because i got everything wrong. it probably would have looked better if i had just missed the quiz
don't even want to try improving my final essay for that class
on a brighter note... my mom's and aunt's birthday party was fun. i enjoyed the evening by going to the botanical garden in bellevue to see the christmas lights, did some christmas shopping, and finished it off with the close ppl in my life with a game of apples to apples. and most importantly, i got to sleep in the day afterwards. hehe.

| What am I thankful for? (in no specific order)
- my home, specifically my bed because it's soft, comfortable, and warm - CT because i'm able to sleep on my way to and from school, don't need to worry about traffic or finding parking - my job, it sucks sometimes but its my only source of income and the kids say funny things - chocolate is yummy - strawberry banana rendezvous from coldstone is yummy
i could say a lot about the important people in my life but here is a brief explanation - my mom, she prays for me and my family, takes care of my brother and me, cooks us food, cleans the home so we don't live in dirty place, etc. even if we've barely done anything for her - my brother, he brings me tea and never yells at me - my dad, i don't really like talking to him but i appreciate his effort in sending money when he can and trying to maintain the relationship between him and my brother and me - brian, ive learned so much with him and i appreciate the many things he does for me - nano, we hardly talk anymore but he's still a good friend

| Taking a hopefully short break from my essay..
With the historical stories or journals I read from school, I have this mindset that everyone I read about who seems religious is Catholic and if they are Christian, I think of the colonistas from españa o europea that were mean and forced Christianity into the lives of people that they met. So its hard for me to imagine Christians who were nice and actually cared for other people. The essay that I am taking a break from is about a nun named Sor Juana. From reading something that she wrote, it really seemed like she was a Christian, but I dont really know the differences between what Christians and Catholics believe. Are there Christian nuns? Anyways, I thought she was another person who criticized works of other people like all the other people we have been reading about in this class but after reading an English translation of a letter Sor Juana wrote and actually thinking about the stuff she is writing (I thank God for these people who write translations and put them online for Spanish students like myself who do not understand what is really going on), I am able to appreciate her as a person because she seemed like a really humble person who just wanted to stand up for herself and others who were being oppressed. Now that I have read the English translation and understand what she was actually talking about, I have to change my thesis a little bit... Sometimes having a better understanding of something creates more work. | | |
